PROPERTY TIME CATCHES UP WITH JACKIE JOHNS, MANAGING PARTNER OF CHRISTIE’S INTERNATIONAL REAL ESTATE DUBAI AND RAS AL KHAIMAH AND AWARD-WINNING REAL ESTATE EXPERT
Exactly a decade ago you graced the cover of PROPERTY TIME, which speaks of your long-standing success in Dubai real estate. How has your personal and professional path developed in step with the city’s growth?
When I first came to Dubai in 2005 with my young family, I never imagined how quickly this city would transform. I’ve had the joy (and challenge) of raising four children here, and in that time, I’ve watched Dubai grow from a promising market into one of the world’s most dynamic destinations. That experience has shaped not only how I live here but also how I work with clients – always hands-on, always listening. It’s the same ethos I instill in our team at Christie’s International Real Estate Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah: to understand every client’s individual needs and to approach each relationship with care and precision.
I’ve spent more than three decades in real estate between the UK and UAE, and I believe the key to success is staying involved – whether that’s guiding a first-time buyer, structuring an off-plan investment, or helping a developer craft a market strategy. Dubai has welcomed people from all over the world, and I’ve been privileged to welcome many of them into their new homes.
Christie’s International Real Estate Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah is part of the iconic Christie’s brand. Tell us more about the brand’s history and your UAE operations.
Christie’s International Real Estate Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah is proud to be the first Middle Eastern affiliate of the invite-only Christie’s International Real Estate network. We share a name with the legendary 250-year-old Christie’s auction house, and our reach extends to more than 50 countries.
Since launching in 2021, we’ve expanded into Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi with Dubai remaining our Head Office, we’ve opened four offices, secured exclusives on some of the region’s most exciting projects, and were recently named Christie’s International Real Estate’s EMEA Affiliate of the Year – a recognition that means a lot to me personally.
How do you tailor your services to meet the requirements of a high-net-worth clientele?
At Christie’s International Real Estate, our philosophy is to anticipate where the market is going, adopt innovative approaches early, and most importantly, to listen. Every high-net-worth client has unique goals, and I make sure our team takes the time to truly understand those. We then match local knowledge with our international network. Our marketing reaches from digital campaigns and global publications like The New York Times, to collaborations with Christie’s auction house. And for those who prefer discretion, our Private Office offers invite-only events, confidential access to a global database of buyers, and a true white-glove experience.
How do you view emerging markets in the U.A.E. like Ras Al Khaimah and Abu Dhabi?
I’m hugely optimistic. Ras Al Khaimah is evolving at an extraordinary pace – helped by the Wynn Al Marjan casino and a wave of luxury brands. The 118% YoY jump in real estate transaction value in 2024 shows how much momentum is there. We expanded into RAK in 2023 and we already represent some of its most prestigious branded projects. Abu Dhabi has its own rhythm. Between global landmarks like the Louvre and Ferrari World, and the clout of ADIA, Mubadala, and ADQ, it’s both a financial powerhouse and a cultural hub. A 24.2% increase in real estate transactions in 2024, plus projects like Mandarin Oriental Residences, show its trajectory is only upward.
Of course, Dubai is still our home base. We continue to lead here, with projects like Muraba Veil that redefine off-plan living, and a portfolio of ready villas that showcase the city’s luxurious lifestyle.
Considering the surge in the U.A.E.’s off-plan market, how do you assist those who wish to develop their own projects?
For me, it’s about partnership from day one. Our dedicated development consultancy team works closely with developers – new and established – on everything from feasibility studies to marketing strategies, product mix and pricing, broker relationships, and even legal and administrative support. I enjoy rolling up my sleeves and being involved in every step, making sure no detail is overlooked.
What are some exclusive projects that Christie’s International Real Estate Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah has advised on in the U.A.E.?
Right now, we’re the Exclusive Master Agency for Fairmont Residences Al Marjan Island – a standout branded development in Ras Al Khaimah offering private beaches and endless sea views. We worked directly with the developer to design a competitive unit mix and pricing strategy, positioning it as the most compelling beachfront opportunity in the region.
Nearby, the YOO Inspired by Starck-designed MASA Residence is already sold out, and we also advised on over $115 million worth of exclusive stock on Falcon Island, earning us Top Brokerage of the Year 2023.
