HOME TO THE LATEST INNOVATIONS IN TECHNOLOGY, UAE IS GEARING UP FOR THE LAUNCH OF A UNIQUE TECH PLATFORM 1VALET FROM CANADA.
1VALET is a leading Canadian technology company specializing in smart solutions for large residential buildings like apartments and condos. Its core mission is to modernize multi-family properties, making them easier for managers to run and better for residents to live in.
What: 1VALET’s main product is a “Complete Building Operating System” (BOS). This system acts like a central brain for a property, bringing all the building’s critical functions—such as security, physical access, and utilities—into one easy-to-use online dashboard for management. The platform uses a mix of software, dedicated hardware (like entry systems), and a Resident App for tenants.
Who: The company was founded in 2017 in Canada by Jean-Pierre Poulin, who serves as the Founder and President. Poulin’s background as a developer influenced the platform’s focus: solving real-world challenges for property owners and managers. The company primarily targets the multi-family residential sector.
USP: 1VALET’s Unique Selling Proposition is encapsulated in its slogan: “Smart buildings made simple”. The system is designed to help owners increase their profits (Net Operating Income, or NOI) by cutting down on running costs (OPEX). A key advantage is its ability to integrate with existing, older buildings (retrofitted projects) without expensive new wiring or replacement of existing door locks. For instance, managers can remotely lower smart thermostat temperatures in empty units to immediately save money on energy bills.
Integrated Features: The platform offers a comprehensive suite of features that are managed centrally:
Video Intercom: Interactive touchscreen consoles that replace old lobby buzzers for visitor entry.
Resident App: An application for tenants to manage digital keys, receive communications, and book services.
Access Control: Centralized digital key management for staff, residents, and vendors.
Package Delivery: Solutions, including smart locker integrations, to handle the high volume of deliveries and prevent missed parcels.
Parking Management: Simplified self-registration and in-app booking for visitor parking.
The platform effectively bundles these mission-critical systems together, making it an all-in-one solution for modern property management.
JEAN PIERRE POULIN, FOUNDER & PRESIDENT, 1VALET
JEAN PIERRE POULIN, what inspired the creation of 1Valet?
In 2017, as a real estate developer managing 4,000 units across Canada, I saw a total lack of end-to-end technology in our industry. Other sectors had fully embraced digital tools, but real estate still relied on piecemeal solutions. We built 1Valet to make buildings smarter, help developers sell and rent faster at higher prices, and boost asset values.
You’ve dominated Canada’s smart-building market. Why expand to Dubai, and how did Latif Habib, your partner in the UAE, help?
We power over 80% of new smart-building projects in Canada. Dubai’s rapid construction pace and luxury standards make it the perfect global showcase. Three years ago, meeting Latif provided the local expertise and developer relationships we needed to launch here.
What Dubai-specific features have you added?
Parcel management is critical in Dubai. We designed a console so couriers scan packages on arrival, and residents receive digital keys to retrieve items from secure rooms or have them delivered to their door. We even plan drone-delivery gates. All data will be stored locally in Dubai to comply with local regulations and is encrypted end to end.
After your first visit to Dubai, did you ever doubt expanding here?
No. The speed and scale of construction, combined with residents’ global profiles, made this expansion essential. We returned convinced that Dubai would be our platform for global growth.
How will you convince budget-conscious developers in the UAE?
As soon as developers see 1Valet drives higher selling prices, faster closings and monthly utility savings for residents, it becomes a profit center—not a cost. They already pay premiums for branded residences; this delivers deeper, technologydriven value at a fraction of that expense.
How confident are you ahead of the October launch?
Over 1,000%. I’m relocating here in October with my family —this city fuels my passion.
Could “Powered by 1Valet” become a developer’s USP?
That’s the dream. We want every building—from condos to arenas—to run on our operating system, just like every PC once ran Windows. Dubai’s launch will pave the way for global adoption.
HANNA HADDAD,
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
What brief did JP give you for 1Valet’s technology?
JP wanted the smartest, most frictionless community possible. We replaced dozens of standalone apps and gadgets with one unified platform that anticipates residents’ needs—sending elevators, unlocking doors, adjusting lighting and temperature, even coordinating car retrieval.
What makes 1Valet stand out in a market full of “smart” devices?
Most “smart” solutions are isolated gadgets that residents must configure. We built one console that brings elevators, locks, lighting, HVAC, security cameras, parcel rooms and more under a single platform. Every tenant enjoys the same intuitive, end-to-end experience without juggling multiple apps.
How will you handle data privacy and security in Dubai?
We already undergo annual penetration tests, maintain SOC compliance, and partner with major telecom companies. We’ll adapt to any additional local requirements just as we did in Canada.
What about internet outages or system downtime?
Offline fail-safes let residents enter their homes and use critical features via a flip-phone —ensuring core functions work even without connectivity. We architected the product from the ground up to operate in offline mode, because reliability is non-negotiable.
LATIF HABIB, PARTNER
Why bring 1Valet to Dubai, and what role did you play?
Having overseen projects across North America and Dubai for 20 years, I’d studied smart-city planning long before meeting JP. When we met three years ago, I saw a massive market gap. I explained broker developer relationships and provided local market insight— making this expansion a no-brainer.
How did you convince JP to bring 1VALET to UAE? Based on tech card or price card?
I played the value card. 1Valet transforms building DNA and enhances resident lifestyles. The product’s proven ROI and luxury experience spoke for itself—my role was simply opening the door.
How confident are you ahead of launch?
Working across time zones and regulations takes discipline, but 1Valet’s entrepreneurial team thrives on these challenges. I’ll take every call—1 a.m. or not— because delivering on our promise here in Dubai is mission-critical.
How does 1Valet complement existing developer brands?
1Valet adds value without overshadowing a building’s marquee name. It’s a turnkey, end-to-end solution that elevates resident experience, aligns with Dubai’s innovation standards, and positions developers for ongoing success.
